Rene Chavez was a former CFO who has extensive global and regional experience with multinational companies.
After completing his undergraduate studies, Rene joined a local financial institution as credit analyst helping the bank assess the credit worthiness of corporate borrowers. He migrated to the U.S. to attend his MBA with a major in Finance. He joined IBM’s Storage Systems Division in Silicon Valley as cost and financial analyst after graduate school. He left IBM and continued to progress his finance career with Cisco Systems in San Jose, California. After 4 years in Cisco’s headquarters and 13 years in the U.S., Rene moved back to Asia on an expatriate assignment as Regional Controller in Singapore where he helped set-up the field finance operations for Cisco in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) and India. He provided financial and business advice to management in guiding Cisco’s rapid sales growth in ASEAN and India from less than $100 million to over $500 million in a span of three years.
He returned to Manila after 16 years of living and working overseas. He resumed his professional career in CFO and Head of Finance roles with multinational companies such as James Hardie, Hewlett-Packard, Accenture and most recently ANZ Bank’s Manila Service Centre. Rene’s diverse experiences with several companies in broad industries have prepared him well in his future endeavors.
Rene is now ready to embark on his next career journey, which is helping small and medium enterprises as a business broker. In this new role, Rene can draw on his vast experiences as CFO in strategic planning, business partnering, commercial decision making, business and finance operations, corporate governance and risk and compliance.
Rene is happily married and has three young children ages 11, 8 and 6.
